Harley-Davidson Super Glide Fault Codes
Harley-Davidson Super Glide motorcycles have engines, which are made up of many different parts. These parts must work together in order for the engine to function. A problem with one of the parts can make the engine not run. There are many different parts that make up an engine. The following harley-davidson super glide faults are the list of some of the parts of a motorcycle engine.
The fault codes are essential to the Harley-Davidson Super Glide motorcycle operation, as they create the spark that ignites the mixture of air and fuel in the engine. Check to see that the spark plugs are not soiled with carbon. As a result, the spark plugs will provide a much weaker spark. The most common cause of soiled spark plugs is the improper installation of an air filter. The air filter prevents dirt from getting into the engine, but a faulty air filter will allow dirt to enter the carburetor.
Harley-Davidson Super Glide Faults :
Engine management systems of Harley-Davidson Super Glide are responsible for monitoring a range of features and its warning light should go out a few seconds after ignition. The system's main job is to keep the engine running at peak performance by monitoring many parameters like coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level and air/fuel ratio. The system monitors these parameters continuously and alerts the driver if any of these parameters fall outside the predetermined limits.
To access codes1- Turn Ignition switch to OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run.
2- Push odometer reset button in & hold.
3- Turn ignition switch to Ignition and release odometer reset button. Background lighting sould illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear.
4- Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" (on mine the "t" looks more like a "p" )with the first P flashing.
5- Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module [EFI] / Ignition Control Module [Carbureted])
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer
To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. Push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they exist.
1 - Record the codes.
2 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer reset button. Part number of module will be displayed.
NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button ( longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF the ignition switch. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC's again by repeating steps 1 to 3 If the code is current it will reappear.
4 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module.
5 - Turn Ignition switch to OFF.
On models not equipped with a tachometer "No Rsp" will appear when the tachometer identifier is
selected.
"No Rsp" will also appear if the run/off switch is in the off position when doing this procedure.
HFSM = Hands Free Security Module
TSM = Turn signal module

Issues with the engine area unit generally caused by problems with the engine elements. whether or not it's a fuel issue or AN ignition drawback, the engine elements ought to be inspected to work out the cause. Another issue that may occur is once the bike engine isn't operating could be a failure of the electrical system. this will cause the bike to stall and not work properly. The Harley-Davidson Super Glide electrical system is often the foremost complicated system on a motorbike.
Possible Failure Types :
- Strange Harley-Davidson Super Glide engine noise.
- Harley-Davidson Super Glide fog from engine.

These abbreviations, and the accompanying list of trouble codes, can be a great start when your Harley-Davidson check engine light comes on. As mentioned above, if you are not comfortable with electrical diagnostic work, a dealership or qualified technician can offer assistance. Please keep in mind that even though you have the ability to clear a DTC using the onboard diagnostic feature, you shouldn't clear the code prior to your service appointment. Let the technician view and clear the codes as they troubleshoot the issue.
